Melamine resin foam is also known under the brand name Basotect® and has been produced by BASF SE since 1984. The typical characteristic of the open-cell foam is its filigree spatial network structure, which consists of slender and thus easily deformable webs. The very good heat and sound insulating properties make the lightweight foam a multi-talent with a wide range of applications.
Material properties:
- High flame resistance - without the addition of flame retardants.
- Application temperature up to 240 °C
- High abrasiveness
- Constant physical-technical properties over a wide temperature range
- High chemical resistance
- Very low inherent weight of only 6 - 9 kg/m³
- Good thermal insulation performance of < 0.035 W/mK(at 10°C)
- High sound absorption due to 99.9 % open cell structure
- Flexibility even at very low temperatures
