NUO is as soft as leather and as supple as fabric - yet completely animal-free and made from real wood. The patented "soft wood" is already lining the first shoes, handbags and car seats, and is now being launched on the market worldwide.
Anyone who holds NUO in their hand is immediately impressed by the pleasant feel and beauty of the material. It is amazingly light and looks very luxurious, can be bent in all directions and nestles softly against the skin. NUO is made of high-quality veneer that comes exclusively from sustainable forestry. The thin real wood is bonded to an environmentally friendly carrier material, after which the wood surface is lasered.
The fine texture gives the wood surface its flexibility. The carrier material gives strength and ensures that NUO is easy to process. If desired, the material can be coated with a protective layer of wax or
varnish. This protective layer makes NUO resistant to dust and moisture (depending on the surface treatment used). Six wood species and four engravings are currently available. All logs come from sustainably managed forests. The standard sizes are 1250 mm x 620 mm, 1250 mm x 1240 mm and 2500 mm x 1240 mm. Upon request, much larger sizes can also be produced, up to a length of 2800 mm and a width of 1240 mm. The specific properties of NUO, such as flexibility, weight and thickness of the material depend largely on the type of wood used, the type of application, the substrate and the surface finish.
