LIGNOLOC® is an ecological fastening system made from the renewable raw material beech wood, which makes it possible to implement metal-free and highly efficient projects and thus contribute to a sustainable turnaround in the construction industry, among other things. The wooden nails are made from Central European beech and consist of compressed laminated veneer lumber with a density of 1,300 kg/m³. Due to the special shape of the nail tip and the heat generated by friction when the nail is driven in, the lignin of the wooden nail fuses with that of the surrounding wood to form a pure bond.
From timber frame construction and solid wood constructions to furniture, pallets, interior wall cladding and renovation work, there are many areas of application. The wooden nails are available in various diameters and lengths. Since January 2022 also with head. The main application of the LIGNOLOC ® with head is horizontal and vertical wood cladding. This is because the nail with head can also be used to hold façade panels securely in position outdoors.
The sustainable fastening system impresses with more than 70 % lower CO2 emissions compared to conventional systems and fully supports the requirements of the circular economy in terms of deconstructability/recyclability. LIGNOLOC® offers lower thermal conductivity, is resistant to corrosion and chemicals and results in less tool wear when reworking the timber elements. The German Institute for Building Technology (DIBt) already issued the "General building authority approval / general type approval" for "Load-bearing timber connections using LIGNOLOC® wooden nails" in 2020. Now the wooden nail with and without head has also received European approval for structural timber construction.
