"maxit straw panel": the ecological alternative in drywall construction.
Well-known raw material, new application: With plaster base panels made of straw, building materials manufacturer maxit now presents a particularly ecological variant for dry construction. For this purpose, the company specially developed a natural lime-based binder that replaces artificial solutions such as PU adhesives. Thus, the "maxit straw panel" is particularly dimensionally stable as well as resistant to aging - and ensures a healthy indoor climate.
Designed for interior use, the straw panels in combination with lime or clay plasters ensure special living comfort and optimum moisture regulation. They can be processed in the same way as conventional plasterboard or wood variants.
From an ecological point of view, the innovation scores on several levels: The straw - together with a purely natural binder based on lime - is pressed into its final form with the addition of heat. Only a small amount of energy is required for the process. Artificially produced PU adhesives are not used, which means that maxit straw boards can even be industrially composted after their useful life. In addition, straw binds CO2 already during its growth and thus relieves the atmosphere.
The "maxit straw panel" also has no need to fear comparison when it comes to fire protection: The oxygen originally contained in the straw is already pressed out during the production of the plaster base boards. Thus, the product shows no smoldering behavior and even extinguishes itself. A silicate layer around the straw also supports natural fire protection. Thus, the boards are classified in the required building material class B2 according to DIN 4102-1 and can be used in practice without any restrictions.
