Living Places Copenhagen - A new way of thinking about buildings
The construction industry is responsible for a third of global emissions. If we want to build responsibly with the planet and human health in mind, it is imperative that we introduce and scale low-carbon alternatives.
In collaboration with Artelia and EFFEKT, we set out to create an affordable form of housing that has an extremely low carbon footprint. The result is Living Places - an experimental living environment with a carbon footprint three times lower and an indoor climate three times better than in an average Danish single-family home.
Living Places comprises seven full-scale prototypes - five open pavilions and two finished houses - and has been developed using existing technologies and materials. The demo project shows that we don't have to wait for future technologies to build far more sustainable homes that are healthy, affordable and beautiful to live in. We have everything we need - now it's time to scale the concept.
Living Places Copenhagen in the center of Copenhagen can still be visited until September 2024.
