Lecture: Contrast and Context - Concrete-Aluminum-Glass Facade in a Monument Ensemble (lecture only accessible in German)
The site at Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz in Berlin-Mitte Linienstrasse 34, Berlin was built on before the war with a perimeter block development by the architect Hans Poelzig. In the redevelopment, the block edge is opened up, the public street space is extended. The building is the urban counterpart of the building Linienstrasse 40 and part of our work on the dissolution of the rigid block edge concept of the hierarchical city of Berlin in favor of a more open, heterarchical system.
