hands on
As part of the "Intelligent Materials" exhibition, architect
Astrid Bornheim will present numerous projects from her Berlin office in her lecture "hands on", which will show the experimental form-finding process and the innovative handling of the subject of fiber cement.
Among others, the projects
- Space recycling I and II
- Cinematic space
- Interior landscape
from Heidelberg, Stuttgart and Munich will be shown, as well as research-based form-finding processes from the university environment.
The project Raumrecycling I and II is a double project that translates an interior space in Munich into a training academy in Heidelberg. The staging of the material fiber cement in the process chain is elementary here for the architectural concept finding.
In the case of the headquarters of a building materials manufacturer in Heidelberg, the focus of the exhibition space "Cinematic space" is on the haptic quality of the material and the staging of the space in between as a social playing field and malleable place of communication.
The Interior Landscape object is about form-finding processes at the interface between analog and digital technology.
Just as the architectural concepts are about changing perspectives, at the material level all the projects are about re-examining potentials of the material, exploring performance capabilities, and presenting poetic, conceptual, and haptic qualities of all the ingredients - the fiber, the cement, the water, and the cellulose.
What these architectures have in common are experimental fields with surprises, border crossings and unusual material combinations that lead to new spatial atmospheres.
