Electronic systems of new cars can be tested in the exit. The design for their roof is based on the idea of a leaf in the landscape. The roof consists of a saddle-shaped surface that - with only two minimalist points of contact with the ground - blends easily and harmoniously into its hilly surroundings. In doing so, the structure spans its elliptical footprint with a length-to-width ratio of approximately 55m/38m. The global saddle geometry results in two high and two low points, with the high points at about 6 m and 9 m above the low points of the same height. The saddle surface consists of a cable-net supported PTFE diaphragm enclosed by a dynamically shaped edge beam box girder made of double curved steel plates. The diaphragm and cable net planes are each prestressed against the compression ring-like edge beam and are also interconnected at the net nodes.
