Recycling House - Design by Availability (lecture only accessible in German)
Nils Nolting, Architect - CITYFÖRSTER
The Recyclinghaus is an experimental residential building created from used, recycled and recyclable components in a recycling-friendly construction method. It is an experimental residential building in the Kronsberg district of Hanover and was completed in summer 2019. It is a prototype that tests the possibilities and potentials of various types of recycling in a real laboratory and demonstrates a cycle-oriented and resource-saving planning approach.
approach. What should be emphasized in the project is the extent of the use of recycling and used materials, which is unique in Germany and leads to a considerable reduction in "gray energy" as well as significant resource savings in the building production process.
For example, approximately 90% of the facade cladding was made from used components, as well as all windows and exterior doors. Also in the interior construction and in the outdoor facilities, used components and materials were used almost completely, such as fair construction panels for interior walls, floors and doors or used concrete sidewalk slabs as a screed substitute on board pile ceilings and as lawn stones, borders and walls. The used building components were obtained exclusively locally and, in addition to other sources, came largely from the building stock of the client GUNDLACH, a Hanover-based housing and construction company.
In addition, industrially recycled materials were used. The foundation made of recycled concrete was

In addition, recyclable building products were used, such as the carcass made of solid wood elements assembled without glue, and the building products were installed in a recyclable manner, so that they can be dismantled into their components again largely without any loss of quality.
