Markus Lager - KADEN + LAGER GMBH
The Berlin-based Kaden-Lager architecture firm works predominantly with wood as a building material.
A few years ago, they realized a Europe-wide prototype with the seven-story residential building made of wood and won numerous prizes. For example, competition 1st prize Hafencity Hamburg, Baakenhafen,Baufeld 89, year of construction: 2015-2019.
Building owner: Building group 'Tor zur Welt'.
In accordance with the wishes of the building group, the building will be constructed as a 6-story solid wood structure over a conventional solid construction base, which includes first floor and gallery floor. Floor slabs and load-bearing exterior walls are made of 22 and 20 cm thick cross laminated timber (BSP).
The ceilings span three bays in the building's transverse direction and can be executed in view without additional cladding. Due to two steel beams in the center of the building, very economical spans of about 4.5m are achieved for the slabs. The vertical loads of the steel beams are transferred via glulam columns (BSH) - also uncovered.
